Best MLB Strikeout Prop Bets Today: Picks, Predictions & Odds Tonight April 15

It's a jam-packed MLB slate on Tuesday, with the action getting underway at 6:40 p.m. ET with a trio of games, but today's best MLB strikeout prop bets focus on games a little later into the evening (as an aside, there should never not be afternoon baseball).

We have an even split of Overs and Unders for today's four strikeout bets, as we're backing two second-year pitchers who shined during their rookie campaigns and fading a starter against the World Series odds favorites.

Our most confident bet is also perhaps the scariest one, as we're taking the Under on the starter tasked with taking on the Chicago White Sox. But we can't ignore the value, so get ready for a sweat.

Atlanta Braves right-hander Schwellenbach put together an outstanding rookie season, pitching to a 3.35 ERA and racking up 127 strikeouts across 123 2/3 innings. However, Schwellenbach has thus far been pitching to contact more through three starts, with his ground-ball rate skyrocketing from 41.6% in 2024 to 58.3% through 20 innings this year.

I believe the right-hander will get back on track in the strikeout department tonight against the Blue Jays, though.

Schwellenbach's CSW% is actually up from last year's mark, thanks to a 15.2% swinging-strike rate.

I understand why he's trading at this total based on what he's done so far this year, but this is a full strikeout too low, in my opinion. And the numbers back that up, too, as Schwellenbach is projected for 5.55 punchouts tonight. Based on that number, the break-even price on this prop is -182, providing us with nice value.

⚾ Jeffrey Springs (Athletics) Under 5.5 strikeouts ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +105 via bet365 (bet $10 to win $10.50)

Surprise, surprise, it's a new season and the White Sox are still terrible. That's who Athletics left-hander Springs takes on tonight, so many will automatically jump to bet his strikeout Over. However, I urge you to reconsider.

Springs has cleared this total in just one of his first three starts this year, as he's combined for just seven punchouts in his last nine innings. He looks a bit shaky with his new team thus far, getting a CSW% of just 27.2, which would be the lowest rate of his career. A big reason for this is that Springs is throwing a strike with his first pitch in just over half of opponent plate appearances, which isn't exactly a recipe for punchouts.

That's likely why Springs is projected for just 4.32 strikeouts tonight against the lowly White Sox. Now, if this number was hovering around five, I wouldn't touch it when the opponent is this bad, but we're getting a ton of wiggle room here.

Based on this projection, Under 5.5 should be trading at odds hovering around -200, so that tells us the total is likely just one strikeout too high. Bet this Under before our best MLB betting sites consider moving this line.

Much like Schwellenbach, Shota Imanaga is coming off a brilliant rookie campaign during which he struck out right around one batter per inning. However, also like Schwellenbach, Imanaga's strikeout numbers are down early this season. Let's take advantage of that.

Imanaga's swinging-strike rate is still right around what it was last year, and most of his other underlying metrics look similar, too.

For tonight's game in San Diego against a tough Padres team, Imanaga is projected for 5.01 punchouts. If this Over was trading at minus money, you would obviously not bet it based on that projection. However, these odds are doing the heavy lifting, as they suggest the southpaw has just a 46.30% implied probability of recording five strikeouts. Based on the projection, Imanaga is really closer to a 56% implied probability of going Over 4.5 strikeouts.

This one is pretty straight-forward, so I won't waste too much time on it.

Feltner is not good. I don't care if he has a 2.81 ERA across his first three starts. He has literally never been good.

Also, I don't care that this game is away from Coors Field, because guess what, it's at Dodger Stadium. Feltner will be lucky to make it through four innings tonight, and I don't foresee him racking up five punchouts in the ~11 total outs he records.

If you want to know the "fair" price for this bet based on Feltner's projection, it's -211. So, yeah, smash this Under.
