After Saturday’s rainout, the St. Louis Cardinals (4-3) and Boston Red Sox (4-4) will wrap up their split doubleheader under the lights on Sunday Night Baseball. First pitch for Game 2 at Fenway Park is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

As of Sunday morning, the Red Sox are favored to beat the Cardinals in today's MLB matchup at 7 p.m. ET from Fenway Park in Boston. Boston’s odds have already ticked up from -115, and I’m predicting the Red Sox will beat the Cardinals as -125 moneyline favorites.

As of this writing, Boston has not yet named its starting pitcher, as the previously scheduled starter (Sean Newcomb) is throwing in the first game. That makes handicapping the contest slightly more difficult, but there are still enough reasons to back the Red Sox.

This play is a fade of Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas, as the team lost 5-4 in 10 innings to the Los Angeles Angels in his first start.

Mikolas was considered one of the luckiest starting pitchers on that March 31 slate, as he had a .329 xwOBA in his 5 1/3 innings of work, but only allowed an actual .157 wOBA. I look for Boston’s offense to do damage in this matchup, just like it did in exploding for 13 runs and six extra-base hits in the series opener.

I predict Boston will beat St. Louis by a final score of Red Sox 6, Cardinals 4.
