We make the best Knicks vs. Pistons prediction for Game 3 of the NBA playoffs. The Pistons pulled off the upset in Game 2 to even the series, but they’re still 1-point underdogs for Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. ET game (TNT) at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.

The Knicks have moneyline odds of -110 or better at our best sports betting sites, and the total is set at either 214 or 214.5. Below, we make our best predictions for the game, including the best player prop bet and same-game parlay (SGP) as part of our NBA picks.

🏀 Game 3 preview & best bet

In Game 2, the Pistons used an incredible defensive performance to shut down the Knicks’ offense and hold them to just 94 points. The two teams combined for just 194 points in that game, significantly lower than the 221 scored in the previous game in this series.

While both of these teams finished in the top half of the league in scoring defense this season, I’m staying away from the total. Instead, I’m focusing on the Pistons moneyline, because the home team should not be the underdog in this game.

The Pistons have won four of their last five games against the Knicks, with each of those victories coming by at least five points. Three of those wins were at Madison Square Garden, which is impressive since the Pistons weren’t great on the road this season. Now, they return home, and in front of a home crowd excited by the Pistons’ first playoff win since 2008, they should have the support they need to take a 2-1 series lead.

Ultimately, the Pistons’ leading scorer, Cade Cunningham, will be the difference in this game. Cunningham dropped 33 points in Monday’s win, and he’s averaging 27 points per game in this series. He’s scored at least 29 in four of his six games against the Knicks. The Knicks won’t have an answer for him on Thursday, as he leads his team to the narrow win.

🔥 Cade Cunningham Over 28.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cunningham dropped only 21 points in Game 1, but his Game 2 performance gives me a lot of confidence in him for tomorrow's affair. Cunningham shot 52.4% from the field in Game 2 after shooting just 38.1% in Game 1. He also more than doubled his free-throw production, knocking down 10-of-12 attempts in Game 2 after going 4-of-5 in Game 1.

The Game 2 performance is more in line with what we saw from Cunningham against the Knicks all season. During the regular season, Cunningham shot over 50% against the Knicks in all four of his games against them, which led to him scoring at least 29 three times and 36 twice.

The Knicks rank 25th in the league in field-goal percentage allowed, so Cunningham should be able to replicate his Game 2 performance. Most of the best sports betting apps agree, as they have the price set at -118 or worse. However, FanDuel is offering the Over for -102, an incredible price for this matchup.
