Our Magic vs. Celtics parlay picks for today's series-opener between the No. 7 seed Orlando Magic and No. 2 seed Boston Celtics dig into whether the Celts can avenge an embarrassing loss to the Magic in the not-so-distant past.

I'm predicting the Celtics to cover the spread as 13.5-point betting favorites as a key component of my Game 1 same-game parlay.  Despite the defensive identities of both sides, we are predicting this game to go Over the total of 205.5 points, and have identified a player prop that correlates strongly within our three-leg SGP.

Tipoff from TD Garden in Boston is at 3:30 ET (ABC).

While the Magic might have a surprise in store for the Celtics when the series relocates to central Florida for game 3 (the Magic were 2-0 outright against the Celtics in the two regular-season meetings played in Orlando), Boston should dominate at home.

Despite the Celtics’ underperformance at home this season (18-23 ATS), they cruised in their lone meeting against the Magic at TD Garden, 121-94.

Orlando isn’t strong enough in these spots to take advantage of Boston’s lackluster home track record, as the Magic are one of the worst teams in the NBA at covering as an underdog, going 13-20-1 ATS.

🔥 Over 205.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In an NBA season dominated by Overs, the Magic and Celtics are two among only six NBA teams to see the majority of their games finish Under the total. So, in a matchup between the two best scoring defenses in the NBA, it’s unsurprising to see this total as the lowest of any Game 1 across the first round.

But with a total down to 205.5 at BetMGM, we might be seeing too much respect for these defenses, as Orlando and Boston combine to allow opponents to score 212.6 points per game.

Though the pace is expected to be pretty slow by NBA standards, we’re predicting that the Celtics will come out with a purpose offensively after losing 96-76 in Orlando a couple of weeks ago.

🔥 Derrick White Over 13.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If there’s been one position group that has managed to consistently put points on the board against the Magic this season, it’s been at the point guard spot. Derrick White isn’t afraid to create his own looks and could benefit from it in this matchup, correlating to our prediction that Boston covers the spread in a game that goes Over the total.

White has 29 points in two games against Orlando this season, and was notably absent during the recent paltry 76-point effort by Boston against the Magic. With a prop at 13.5 points, White won’t necessarily need to hit his season average of 16.4 points per game to clear this line.
